New World – Amazon Game Studios
Visual Effects Contributions | 4 Titles Shipped
Over the course of four shipped titles in the New World series, I contributed real-time visual effects across a variety of gameplay areas including NPCs, boss encounters, world events, and environmental systems.
I worked alongside teams at Amazon Game Studios and Lost Boys Interactive, taking ownership of effects that were both gameplay-critical and visually cinematic. Below are a few key examples of my work:
Artemis – Boss FX
For the Artemis boss, I created several custom effects:
-
A glowing energy-ball effect on her hands to enhance her casting animations.
-
Impact FX for attacks and death events.
-
Additional environmental elements tied to her phase mechanics.
🌀 Community Gameplay – Full Artemis Boss Fight
This fight features my custom VFX: glowing energy effects on her hands, impact FX, and environment enhancements.
That tells the viewer:
📌 “Hey, this is my work. And it’s not just one shot — it’s the whole encounter.”
Spring Bloom Event VFX
For the Spring Bloom seasonal event:
-
I designed environmental FX around the event areas.
-
Focused on color, pacing, and readability to align with the seasonal tone.

Environment and NPCs
On the Mammoth boss:
-
I created a full enemy death FX sequence, including dust, debris, energy flare, and body dissolve.
-
Collaborated with animation and gameplay teams to sync the VFX timing with animation states.
Mammoth Boss Encounter
Environment and NPCs
Throughout the New World titles, I worked on:
-
Ambient FX for towns, camps, and natural zones.
-
NPC-specific FX such as healing circles, ranged attacks,
-
and elemental abilities.
A Tale of Team Collaboration
Huge thanks to the teams at Amazon Games and Lost Boys Interactive for the opportunity to contribute to such a massive, living game world. And to the other FX artists I worked with — your collaboration meant everything.
